11/23/2020 UPDATE:

It's THANKSGIVING WEEK!!! Here's the latest info.

COURSE:

Same as prior years.  It will be marked with signs from 8am - noon.  There are no formal start times, you just complete the 5k ANYTIME on Thanksgiving day.

The start/finish line is in Waterfront Park in Safety Harbor by the lightpole where two sidewalks converge.  Follow the sidewalk north where it leads out onto N. Bayshore Blvd, take a right (bay will be on your right side) and follow to the end of N. Bayshore Blvd where you'll find a pedestrian bridge going into Philippe Park.  Go into the park, the road will make a sharp left and go up a small hill, at the top of that hill is the turnaround point.  If you get to a stop sign, then you've gone too far.  At the turnaround point stop and go back the way you came to the start/finish line.

SHIRTS:

Unfortunately we did not get enough interest this year to order shirts.

DONATIONS:

Food and monetary donations can be dropped off at the Mattie Williams Neighborhood Family Center from 8am - 10am, via a drive thru car line.  Please place your items on a seat, or in the trunk, to keep social distancing and everyone safe.

ROCKS:

There will be some rocks hidden on the course again this year.  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE just one rock per person, this way more people can enjoy them.  We'll also be handing out rocks at the MWNFC during the donation drop off for a donation of 5 items or more - one rock per vehicle, while supplies last.

THANK YOU:

The need for donations is higher than normal this year due to job losses from Covid.  Each individual's support is the reason this works, without your support, more people would go hungry thoughout this holiday season.  THANK YOU, you make a difference!

11/11/2020 UPDATE:

CLARIFICATION OF HOURS:

Non-perishable food donations (and monetary donations) will be accepted at the MWNFC from 8am - 10am via a drive-thru style drop off on Thanksgiving morning.

The "virtual" 5k is anytime you would like to complete the course on Thanksgiving day.  However, the course will only be marked with signs from 8am - noon on Thanksgiving day.

The course is the same as it in year's past.  Start in the new Safety Harbor Waterfront Park, go north on N. Bayshore Blvd over the pedestrian bridge and up to the top of the first "hill" in Philippe Park and back.    Please see map of course below.

SHIRTS:

We are looking into getting shirts again this year, but need to know if you are interested ASAP.  If so, tell us the sizes you need.  You aren't committed until we purchase them and don't need to buy until you get them.  They will be crew collar unisex white with this year's logo - similar to prior year's shirts.  They will be in the $10-$12 range.  Please let us know if you are interested by emailing pursuingsozo@gmail.com

Monetary donations are also accepted, please make checks available to Mattie Williams Neighborhood Family Center and memo "2020 GW" at the bottom.

This year's event is going to be different due to the virus.  There will not be an official "starting time" for everyone, instead it will be starting at your own convenience between the hours of 8am - 10am.

This year's course will be the same as last year's course, and it will be marked.  We will have the course marked before 8am and the markings will come down after 10am.

The MWNFC car line food drive collection will be from 8am - 10am.

VIRUS SAFETY:

We are having this as an open-style event so you choose what time you'd like to start and so you can keep socially distanced from other participants.

We WILL NOT have water or post-race snacks available, PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLE.

Food collection will be via a car line drop off at the MWNFC.  You can stay in your car and pop your trunk for a volunteer to get the food donation if you prefer.  We will not be able to accept walk ups in order to ensure safe distancing.
